These lock-type stitch marker offer multiple benefits; These can be used for both crochet and knitting.

When in use for a crochet project, you can thread the marker through the working stitch and remove your hook to ensure your work does not unravel during storage. The unlock and locking function also allows you to thread markers in any other stitches to help with pattern counting. 

When in use for a knitting project, you can lock the marker and slip them on your needles as normal. Once locked, they stay in place for worry-free knitting, as well as giving you the option to change their position whenever you like.
